About Postcards from Avalon

Inspired by the mystical island of Arthurian legend,  layered imagery is used to create constructed landscapes printed onto glass. In so doing the photograph becomes an object, the glass alluding to the photographic lens, fragile and transparent. Offering an ethereal, dreamlike quality, both illusory and unreal, this new body of work features images made at the Pouch Cove Foundation Artist Residency on Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula, the most easterly point on the North American continent and the first place to see the sun rise.
